Five weeks after we started over, Mura 2.0 is on the App Store. If you are on iOS 26, update and sign in: everything you had is there. This post is what happened in the last stretch, because a launch is mostly the things nobody sees.
The last week
The first test build went onto a real phone on the 30th. The first thing we tested was the one thing a simulator cannot: notifications. Turn on, and a test notification arrived. Then the App Store, and the review came back the same day. A 2.0.1 with a handful of fixes from the first day's notes followed it in.
What came over
Everything from the first app. Profiles, sports, photos, prompts, the people you follow and the people who follow you, blocks, clubs with their members and their channels, every session with its host and its roster and its chat, direct messages, saved routes. The move ran once last week and once more this morning, after the old app had been switched off, so nothing anyone did in between was lost.
The one rule in the move worth stating: if you had already used the new app and changed something, the new version wins and the move only fills gaps. Nobody who published a profile here was unpublished by it.
The things App Review asks for, done properly
Reports have to be acted on within a day. Every report now reaches us the moment it is made, with the reason, the person or session, and how many are open. Deleting your account has to work, every time; it did not for anyone who had sent a message or been reported, which we found three days before submitting and fixed. And if you signed in with Apple, deleting your account now also tells Apple to forget you, which is a rule as of this year.
Women-only sessions
Asked for again and again, by the people running clubs and our friends. A host marks a session women-only when posting it. It is hidden from everyone it excludes, and it fails closed: no gender on file means no access, not access by default. The host's own group comes from their profile, so the option is there for anyone whose profile says who they are.
Retiring the first Mura
We turned the old app off today. Every request from it now gets one answer: this version of Mura has been retired, update from the App Store. We went back and forth on running both for a while and decided against it. Two apps with two sets of rules is how data goes wrong quietly, and the people still on the old one deserved a clear message rather than a slow decline.
If your iPhone cannot run iOS 26, we are sorry, and you are not locked out: every session has a page on muramove.com that you can open and join from any browser, and that is about to get much better.
If you're reading this, we appreciate you and thank you for being on v1. Now go find your squad on v2 !
